The stunning landscapes of the island of Hvar have always attracted visitors, and sometimes – they cause traffic jams.

You will notice this yourself if you take a drive along the southern side of the island from Stari Grad to Hvar. If you are a fan of beautiful panoramas and want to experience spectacular views of the island, luckily, Hvar has several extraordinary locations that I reveal to you in this guide.

St. Anthony’s viewpoint

The St. Anthony’s viewpoint is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island of Hvar. Located at an altitude of 500 meters, it offers one of the most impressive views of the surrounding area. Here, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the island of Šćedro, Korčula, Pelješac, Zavala, and Ivan Dolac. This viewpoint is intended for nature lovers, athletes, and adventurers – and it is relatively unexplored.

St. Nicholas’ viewpoint: Panoramic view from the highest point of the island

The highest peak of the island of Hvar is named after St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and children. This peak, rising to an altitude of 626 meters, offers an exceptional viewpoint from which you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the islands of Brač, the peak of Pelješac, and Vis in the distance. At the very top, you’ll find the church of St. Nicholas, which was built in 1487 by Matij Ivanić

Fortress Španjola or Fortica: An Instagram Worthy Spot

Located high above the town of Hvar, Fortica Fortress is the most famous fortress on the island, offering a unique perspective of the Hvar archipelago. The red rooftops of the town of Hvar and the azure blue of the sea, along with the scattered greenery of the Paklinski Islands, create a view that can only be witnessed here. It.’s undoubtedly the most photographed spot on the island.

Napoleon Bonaparte Knew Better

On the western part of the island, high above the town of Hvar, you’ll find the old fortress Napoleon, or Napoljun. Here, you can catch an even better view of the Paklinski Islands and the entire city of Hvar, making it perfect for athletes and runners. The Hvar Observatory is also located here. Personally, I find this to be the most beautiful view of Hvar. Sunset on every spot on the island is different, but here – here it is something special.

Absolutely, some fantastic views of the island can be captured while hiking the ferrata in Sv. Nedjelja, from the viewpoint in Brusje, or simply while driving around the island. Hvar offers a plethora of breathtaking scenery to enjoy from various vantage points. Indeed, the landscape is stunning, no matter which way you turn. Hvar’s natural beauty is captivating from every angle.
